Yalini Sundararajah is a cardiologist with special interests in women’s cardiovascular health. Her training and experience in coronary physiology and intervention helped her study and observe patterns of cardiovascular disease in females, especially ischaemic heart disease. She conducted many studies on the patterns of ischaemic heart disease in females and presented her research at cardiology conferences. She pays particular attention to the treatment of women with chest pain, dyspnoea and non-obstructive coronary artery disease.
Upon returning to Australia, she completed a cardiology fellowship in heart failure and imaging at Flinders Medical Centre as part of her peer review. Her current clinical approach brings together her experience in coronary artery disease and intervention with her expertise in heart failure, cardiomyopathy and multi-modality cardiac imaging.
Dr Sundararajah believes that prevention is one of the most effective ways to reduce the long-term burden of cardiovascular disease and promote a healthier future for the next generation. She places particular emphasis on cardiovascular risk assessment and managing high cholesterol, hypertension, and cardiometabolic conditions.
Alongside her clinical practice, Dr Sundararajah is a cardiovascular researcher at Flinders University and an active member of the Research Department at Flinders Medical Centre. She is also embarking on her PhD in cardiomyopathy.
