Associate Professor Sinhal graduated from the University of Mumbai in 1996 and completed Cardiology training in 2002.  He completed an Interventional Cardiology fellowship at St Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver, Canada in 2006.

He is currently the Director of the Cardiac Catheter Labs at Flinders Medical Centre.

Ajay is an experienced Interventional Cardiologist with a unique and special interest in transcatheter solutions for structural heart diseases:

• Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI)
• Transcatheter Mitral Valve Repair
• Balloon Valvoplasty
• Transcatheter Closure of PFO/ASD/Left Atrial Appedage

Dr Sinhal led a cardiac team in performing the first catheter-based aortic valve replacement using an Edwards transcatheter valve in Australasia in November 2008.  He is an internationally recognized expert in TAVI and has proctored many interstate and international centres to establish their TAVI programs.  He currently holds the Chair of the National ACOR TAVI Registry.

Dr Sinhal has a strong focus in Cardiac Research and innovation with a passion for improving patient outcomes. He has been a principal investigator for many international clinical trials and has published in many journals.
