What is this?

Myocardial biopsy is a cardiac catheterisation – based procedure undertaken to remove a very small segment of heart muscle for specialist analysis in the pathology laboratory. It is undertaken in a fashion similar to Right Heart Catheterisation: see adjacent heading. Results can be available within a few hours if urgent, routine processing usually provides a result approximately a day later.
