Dr Andrew Hamilton
MBBS, PhD, FRACP
Dr Hamilton was trained at the University of Adelaide, Flinders University and Northwestern University in Chicago.
Dr Hamilton has a PhD in atherosclerosis imaging and early detection of coronary artery disease from Northwestern University in Chicago. Dr Hamilton previously has been the head echocardiography at Evanston Northwestern Healthcare in Chicago and head of cardiovascular imaging and medical director at the University Of Texas in Houston. He returned to Adelaide in 2008.
Dr Hamilton’s main interests are in cardiac imaging, valvular heart disease and early detection, prevention and reversal of coronary artery disease. Dr Hamilton runs the Heart and Vascular’s Atherosclerosis Reversal and Prevention Program. This program focuses on atherosclerosis reversal and prevention through long-term vigorous dietary modification and intensive pharmacotherapy. This atherosclerosis reversal program was developed and studied at the University of Texas and has been shown to increase coronary artery blood flow and improve outcomes.
Dr Hamilton is the author of 22 manuscripts, 36 abstracts and 1 book chapter.
